Message The sad part is that this fully built engine probably had <5000 miles on it. The good news is that I picked it up at about 1/10th the cost of the original build and I'm hoping I can get it refreshed without too much $$$.

So you know the drill ... Detonation ... Melted spark plug and then ....

.

YEP the electrode obviously bounced around in the cylinder for a while :-( The good news is that it appears that most of the damage was done to the piston, not the cylinder wall.

The cylinder wall looks to be in decent shape considering the other damage. The cross hatching is worn but there isn't serious scoring in the wall. You can see a few vertical lines but the wall feels only slightly rougher than all the others as I run my finger nail around the wall perpendicular to the wear lines.

My guess is that the electrode eventually made its way out of the cylinder and attached it self to the exhaust valve stem. OUCH

.

The plan of attack:

HEADS - to be shipped to the engine shop

I have a few new valves to replaced those damaged
New Bronze Valve guides all around
New Valve Stems all around

Hopefully this will cover me and I won't need to replace any seats and do a full 3 angle valve job. Any idea what sort of cost I'm looking at here?

BOTTOM END

Redo all the rings
Replace single damaged Wiseco piston? Anyone run one with damage like this? I'm assuming that Wiseco will sell singles?

Even though the engine has very few miles; it was obviously driven hard. I'll be checking the arms to make sure they're all straight and I'll probably replace the bearings.

Any suggestions comments?
